Antique Provencal flour box or "Farinière". This gorgeous box features an intricately hand-carved design of musical instruments and flowers From the 1700s to the late 1800s these ornately carved storage boxes would have taken pride of place in the Provencal kitchen. Made from walnut wood with a front sliding panel the boxes would typically have been used to store cloth or paper sacks of flour These boxes have become quite rare and are now highly collectible. The box measures ; 42cm (16 1/2") tall, 17cm (7") wide, 11cm (4 3/4) deep Can be freestanding or wall mounted.

Lovely antique condition, the wood has a nice patina. The construction, which simply slides together without use of nails or glue, is still solid. The original fabric lining is still present.
