Carved wooden pediment with griffin decoration, late 19th to early 20th century

  
Beautiful decorative brown varnished wooden pediment with carved griffin motifs, a central striped globe crest, scrollwork, acanthus leaves, and a shell finial at the top. Handcrafted, probably late 19th to early 20th century, in the Renaissance style. Shows signs of use and small areas of missing wood in places. One part of the neck of the left griffin may have been reglued — though I am not sure — (see photo), and another area at the top right of the crest (see photo).
