Superb basin of finely crafted Eastern goldsmithing in brass, originating from Syria at the end of the 19th century. This is a basin without its ewer, richly chiseled, inlaid with silver, and enhanced with red copper, in the purest tradition of Syrian workshops (Damascus / Aleppo). The scalloped edge, particularly elegant, frames a sophisticated decoration composed of lobed calligraphic cartouches, intertwined with stylized vegetal motifs. The chiseling and inlay work demonstrates great craftsmanship and a know-how typical of the Syro-Ottoman metallurgy of the late 19th century. A remarkable decorative piece: rare, authentic, and very decorative, perfect for a collection of Islamic art, an Orientalist interior, or any refined staging.

Material: brass inlaid with silver, highlights of red copper. Decoration: chiseled, lobed calligraphic cartouches, vegetal motifs. Shape: basin with a scalloped edge. Origin: Syria (Damascus / Aleppo). Condition: normal signs of wear, small marks of time, very beautiful patina (see photos).

Silver inlays still visible and contrasted. Scalloped edge of fine quality. Refined and typical calligraphic decoration. Authentic and decorative piece, with a beautiful presence.
