ANTIQUE BISCUIT PORCELAIN - WINGED CUPID WITH QUIVER, or Cupid Running - AFTER BOIZOT, IN THE STYLE OF SÈVRES - 29 CM. Elegant antique biscuit porcelain statuette representing Cupid, the god of Love, depicted as a young winged child. The figure is shown standing in a supple, lively pose, with the body slightly leaning forward and one leg raised backward.

He stands beside a flowered stump against which his quiver rests. His wings are fully spread, his curly hair and the delicate modeling of his face create a graceful figure inspired by 18th-century French sculpture. The composition develops the allegorical theme of Love: Cupid, his wings, and his quiver evoke the irresistible power of feelings and the play of seduction. The flowers arranged around the base reinforce this romantic symbolism and add rich decorative detail to the plinth. The sculpture bears the inscription “Boizot” on the base. It reproduces a model associated with Louis-Simon Boizot, a French sculptor and director of the sculpture workshop at the Sèvres manufactory at the end of the 18th century. Limoges or Sanson, in the style of Sèvres biscuit porcelain. The biscuit porcelain, left in its natural white color, highlights the refinement of the modeling, the treatment of the drapery, feathers, curls, and vegetal motifs. Subject: Cupid Running / Winged Cupid beside his quiver Material: biscuit porcelain Style: Louis XVI, neoclassical Manufacture: in the style of Sèvres Inscription: “Boizot” on the base Height: 29 cm Width: 16 cm Condition: good overall condition; slight signs of age and small firing or use-related flaws visible in the photographs.
