Antique paperweight of sulfur type, made of thick glass, with a slightly domed oval shape. In the heart of the glass mass appears a golden symbolic decoration representing the square and compass, framed by stylized vegetal branches, an emblematic composition of Masonic symbolism. The motif is created by inclusion of a metallic decoration (gold leaf or golden pigment) trapped in the glass during the shaping process, according to the traditional sulfur technique, then covered with a thick layer of clear glass ensuring depth and protection.

The dominant color is a deep cobalt blue, intense and luminous, typical of decorative productions from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This blue, combined with the golden light of the decoration, creates a powerful and symbolic contrast: blue evokes knowledge, spirituality, and elevation, while gold refers to light, wisdom, and transmission. Around the central decoration, a peripheral frieze composed of green and blue millefiori patterns adds a decorative crown effect, enhancing the visual richness of the whole piece. The manufacturing showcases the skilled glasswork of a major French factory: insertion of the decorative motif, addition of millefiori elements, and then encasing in a mass of hot glass, formed and polished to achieve this smooth and domed surface. Slight bubbles or micro-irregularities may be present, characteristic of antique sulfurs and a mark of non-industrial contemporary production.

An object with strong symbolic value, intended for use as both a paperweight and a decorative or curiosity cabinet function. It fits into the tradition of office and sociability objects from the late 19th century, sometimes given or kept as items of belonging, memory, or symbolic affinity. Dimensions: approximately 9 cm x 6 cm. An antique decorative piece, sought after for the quality of its color, the depth of the glass, and the strength of its Masonic symbolism.
