Ancient reliquary statue carved wood Virgin Child Jesus Presentation 18th century

  
18th-century polychrome wooden religious reliquary sculpture, depicting the Virgin presenting the Child Jesus to the faithful. The Virgin assumes an elegant contrapposto, her swaying enhancing the drapery and emphasizing the gesture of presentation. The devotional composition is very clear: the Child is held forward in her arms, offered for viewing and prayer, documented in iconography under the title "Virgin presenting the Child" or "Presentation." The base is hollowed out to accommodate a relic, confirming its function as a reliquary sculpture. There is a double patina with old repainting, traces of its liturgical history.

The bottom of the base has been restored, reinforcing the whole piece. Signs of wear, losses, and stabilized holes from old woodworms are present. The polychromy features visible old repainting. Overall, the piece is in good general stability, a rare and authentic work of significant presence.
