Rare and antique work/craft box/sewing box, Italy or Switzerland circa 1800, opening to a drawer and a lid, richly decorated with 11 landscape scenes animated with figures. The lid is lined with a mirror (wear) on the inside, revealing a series of eight compartments, including six painted boxes and two sliding lids. One of the boxes contains a spool/winder for thread. The lower drawer is made up of two retractable ebony thread winders. A fine, well-proportioned piece in good condition, see photos. Overall dimensions: 38 cm x 28 cm x 16 cm.
