Add this shop to my favorites. Snuffbox coconut carved representing a flower basket surrounded by garlands of vegetables, work sailor or convict, of the nineteenth century. This snuffbox is in good condition.

A note: the hinge is broken (missing), the lid is removed, slit on the side, missing a tiny ankle on one edge, wear time, see photos. The coconut as well as the corozo was worked by the sailors or also by convicts. The latter worked to pass the time but also and especially to make a little money to improve their lives.

Can also be attributed to sailors on their long journeys. These objects in coconut or corozo are fine examples of folk art. Dimensions: 6.5 cm x 7.5 cm.
