Complete 19th-Century IMARI / ARITA & Napoleon III Bronze Oil Lamp

  

Antique baluster-shaped porcelain oil lamp, adorned with delicate, hand-painted polychrome decoration in the Imari / Arita style. The finely detailed porcelain depicts a bird in flight among flowering branches and peonies, complemented by geometric motifs and an iron-red border around the neck.

The porcelain body rests on a cast bronze base decorated with scrollwork and stylized foliage. The upper section features its original brass burner, with a patina acquired over time.

The oil lamp is complete with both glass components: one unmarked glass chimney and one globe with acid-etched decoration.

Period: Late 19th / early 20th century (Meiji or Art Nouveau period).
Style: Asian, with Imari / Kutani / Arita influences.
Base diameter: 14.5 cm.

Overall condition: The porcelain is in very good condition, with no significant wear to the decoration.

The metal fittings have a beautiful original patina and are sound and stable. The mechanism is sold as found and has not been tested with kerosene.

Please note: The adjustment wheel on the Kosmos burner turns, but the cotton wick is dry, and turning the wheel does not raise it.

Both the glass chimney and globe are present, with no breaks or cracks.
