FERRAT in hammered copper, Large antique water basin, 19th century grain measure, Handle cache pot. RARE Ferrat from Auvergne late 18th - early 19th century. A kind of large waterproof copper basin reinforced by riveted vertical copper tensioners that make it very strong. It was the Auvergne women who used this container to fetch water from the fountain.

They would place it on their heads, which is why the bottom is concave, and hold it by the two handles on each side to ensure stability. This container could also be used as a grain measure.
