Exceptional "cantir" in fine copper from the late 19th century, stamped underneath the base I. Isidore Llaurensou comes from a long lineage of coppersmiths. A gifted and inventive artist, his productions adapt the shapes and colors of Greek vases into tinware. A friend of Georges-Daniel de Monfreid, he works from his drawings and introduces Gustave Violet to tinware.

This cantir is a typically Catalan model that he perfects and stylizes. His home is a must-visit for all Roussillon artists, including Manolo and Deodat de Severac, among others. Ref: Catalogue Isidore and Laurent LLAURENSOU, artistic tinworkers.

Dimensions: Height approximately 30cm, width at the widest point approximately 23cm, base 19cm, weight approximately 2kg. There is a fine gold decoration on the top of the cantir. Two small dents on the handle and on the body (see photo).
