Very beautiful and large gilded brass khamsa. This rare piece is a suspension element for a commemorative glass lamp or a Shabbat lamp. The hooks located at the top and bottom were used to attach it to the ceiling of a home or a synagogue.

The Khamsa is the symbol that wards off the evil eye; it is accompanied by the silhouette of a bird (a dove or rooster), characteristic of Fez craftsmanship, bringing spirituality, vigilance, and benevolence. The center is decorated with a circular medallion intertwined within a geometric star, and the whole piece is surrounded by finely hand-engraved floral motifs. On the back, you can see the riveted fastening, which confirms its sturdy function in holding the weight of a lamp; this also attests to its ritual antiquity.

Diameter: 17.5 cm x 10.5 cm.
