Processional Christ in wood, early period, 17th century, Italy

  

Processional Christ on a wooden plaque, probably carved from linden wood, with traces of polychromy and gilding. Symbol of the Trinity, with the Father supporting the Son. Southern Europe, probably Spain or Italy.

Patina, a vertical crack that has been repaired but is barely visible, a touch-up on the tip of the nose, and a hole for the processional handle. A recent nailed attachment for hanging it on the wall.
