RARE ancient MILITARY AXE 19th century POPULAR ART engraved and signed ACIER CREUSOT

  
Rare superb ancient military axe or folk art, from the 19th century or even late 18th century (to be identified). The tip is made of iron or steel with a richly engraved decoration of leaves, with an engraved signature on the top: ACIER CREUSOT (see photo 9). Magnificent handle made of black wood, possibly ebony? With remarkable different relief decorations on both sides. The decorations on the handle have a military theme.

Front side: armor, breastplate, helmet, flags, axes. Back side: cannons, spear, marine anchor, axes. SEE THE MANY DETAILED PHOTOS. Total length: 33.9 cm. Length of the wooden handle: 33.8 cm.

IN GOOD CONDITION, the tip of the axe in steel or iron is in very good condition, no dents, just needs cleaning due to rust marks, nothing too serious. I leave it as is. I leave it to the new owner to clean it with suitable products to restore its iron or steel patina. The axe is not fixed to its wooden handle.
