Charming vintage glazed earthenware mold from Soufflenheim, Alsace. It depicts a swaddled baby in relief, a characteristic figure of Alsatian folk art. The speckled glaze in honey, ochre, and green tones gives it a warm, rustic look. Handcrafted around 1950 and supported by four kiln legs, this piece is in very good condition, with minor surface wear and a small firing flaw on one corner, but no cracks or chips. The glossy glaze is beautifully preserved.

Rare Alsatian mold in glazed terracotta, made in Soufflenheim, Alsace. It shows a swaddled baby in relief, typical of Alsatian folk art. The speckled glaze in honey, ochre, and green tones, handcrafted around 1950 with four firing supports on the underside.

Light signs of use and a small firing flaw, with no cracks or chips. The glaze remains glossy and intact.

History & Tradition

In Alsace, baby-shaped molds were sometimes given to young parents as birth keepsakes and as a symbolic protection for the home. They were hung in the kitchen or brought out for special festive baking. As folk-art pieces, each example is hand-shaped and glazed.
