Rare Wedding Set: Headdress, Sebbat, and Silver Belt, Algerian Jewish 19th Century
A rare and authentic wedding set from the Jewish community of Algeria. This set includes a conical headdress embroidered with its chin strap (also known as a Tlemcen or Oran hat), a pair of leather and silk mules embroidered with gold thread, and finally, a belt in gilded silver, extensively stamped and finely filigreed. It features an elegant bow with an inserted violet background for reflection and a movable pendant at the base. It is worthy of a good collection; such compositions can be found in specialized books as well as in ethnology and tribal traditions museums. These three pieces have the same provenance and show the same signs of use.
