Antique wooden sculpture depicting Christ on a holly cross. Fine precision work with perfect details. Dimensions: 45 cm x 22 cm. Christ is detached from the cross.
It is held in place by a screw in the back, see photo. The pegs holding the hands and feet appear to be made of wood and are no longer secure.
The arms were carved separately from the body and then fitted to the shoulders (see photos). One side of the cross appears to have been reglued, with traces of glue still to be removed. Very beautiful folk art sculpture circa 1850.
