Splendid set of 4 ceremonial / ritual spoons of traditional tribal art from the island of Timor, Indonesia. These authentic pieces were brought back from Asia during the 1970s. They are entirely hand-carved from water buffalo horn. Each piece displays exceptionally fine carving. Two spoons feature geometric handles decorated with traditional wave and scale motifs. The other two stand out for their intricate figurative carvings depicting stylized mythical birds or protective creatures.

Notable details: The spoons have a beautiful patina from use, enhanced by deep red lacquer pigments and subtle traces of original gilding on the raised carved details.

Condition: Good vintage condition, preserved as found, reflecting their authenticity. Natural wear to the red lacquer and gilding is consistent with their age and traditional tribal craftsmanship (see detailed photos). No major losses to the horn.
