Possibly associated with the Nal culture. The globular body is decorated with two stylized fish painted in black pigment on red terracotta, positioned on opposite sides of the vessel. The decoration is framed by two encircling black bands, one below the rim and the other around the shoulder.

Between the fish are concentric circular motifs and triangular geometric elements, characteristic of prehistoric painted pottery.

The vessel features a tapered orange-red spout with a dark rim. The shoulder around the base of the spout is further embellished with diagonal notches incised into the clay before firing, adding texture and visual interest to the painted decoration.

The vessel retains an attractive archaeological surface patina, with natural mineral deposits and age-related wear consistent with its considerable antiquity.

Areas of the original painted slip show expected surface abrasion and localized losses, revealing the underlying terracotta, as shown in the photographs.
Date: 3200–2700 BC (Nal culture, Indus Valley Civilization).

Excellent archaeological condition for its age, despite a minor crack.

Complete and structurally stable, with no restoration or repairs observed. Expected age-related surface wear, areas of paint and slip loss, and an attractive archaeological patina acquired over time.

An old collection or auction inventory label remains attached to the base.

Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the description.
