Magnificent oblong brass planter (or cache-pot) dating from the late 19th century (Napoleon III era / early 20th century). This impressive decorative piece stands out for the quality of its craftsmanship and its classic ornamental details.
Features:
Decor: Rich floral relief decoration all around, made using the repoussé brass technique.
Ornamentation: Fitted with two very well-crafted lion heads in bronze (or cast brass), serving as handles on the sides, and resting on four lion-claw feet. The inside bottom has been cleaned to stabilize the old oxidation.
The piece has two side rings.
Finish: The item has been protected with the famous microcrystalline wax “Renaissance” (used by museums), giving it a deep satin sheen while preserving its authentic old patina.
Weight = 1800 grams
Why this piece? Unlike modern copies, this planter features solid copper rivets and a metal thickness characteristic of high-quality craftsmanship from the past. Its well-preserved, naturally aged patina, simply stabilized, gives it a timeless charm ideal for a Country Chic, Haussmann-style, or even contemporary interior.
